Since 2007 Romania has lost 3.4 million people due to emigration. That is 17% of its population, placing it on the second place in the world, after Syria. This estimation is confirmed by the UN in a recent study on emigration.
Romanian people are leaving the country for various motives: political instability, corruption, lack of opportunities etc. However, if things went better in their home country, plenty of them would consider returning home.
